Dear Resident, Thank you for taking the local priority survey recently, your ongoing feedback about local issues of concern is vital in order to enable us to target resources effectively. Although you did not raise Anti Social Behaviour as a concern in your last feedback, this issue has been raised by other members of your local area so we thought you would also like to receive this update. In this jam-packed weekly update, we have done it all. From saving lives, arresting criminals, seizing drugs and E-bikes and more, we cover some great jobs in this weekly update.
On Friday 19 June, Police attended a call from paramedics regarding a male who had collapsed. Upon police attendance, paramedics were already carrying out CPR as the person was not breathing and their heart had stopped.
As the ambulance crew required further assistance so they could provide specialist aid to the person, officers started to administer CPR and ascertained details whilst paramedics used bespoke training in order to provide the subject with the best chance of survival. As a result of this, their breathing came back and a pulse was regained.
The male was transported to Lister Hospital, whereby they lived through the ordeal. We are grateful to work alongside our paramedics and assist them in saving lives.
On Friday (26 June), officers conducted a plain-clothed operation at Fairlands Valley Park. Whilst conducting this operation, they spotted an illegally modified E-bike riding at speed, up and down the lake area. The rider was stopped and detained for a search, as was a member of the public who was with them at the time. A small amount of cannabis was found as well as nearly £700 in cash which the suspect could not account for. Due to this, the rider was arrested for Proceeds of Crime, being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug (Cannabis) and driving a vehicle without insurance.
The offender was taken into custody and the E-bike was seized. Upon testing the bike, it was found by officers that the 5,000 WATT E-bike could reach speeds of nearly 80mph. The E-bike was then taken to the recovery company, whereby it has now been crushed.
The suspect is now on bail whilst further enquiries are being made.
The male that was with the suspect at the time of the search was reported for possession of cannabis and will complete a Community Resolution.
A man has been arrested and charged following four thefts from a shop in Stevenage Town Centre. Mark Geary, aged 63, of High Street, Waltham Cross was arrested on Tuesday 23 June and charged with thefts from Boots on Queensway, on Monday 15 June, two thefts on Wednesday 10 June and another on Monday 8 June. The fragrances that were stolen totalled the amount of £1565.00. He is due to appear in Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 5 August.
A man has been charged following a theft from a shop in Stevenage Town Centre this week. Police were called following a theft from Superdrug on Queensway, Stevenage on Tuesday 23 June. A man was arrested a short time later at Stevenage Railway Station. Irakli Kupatadze, aged 30, of Regents Park Road, London has been charged with theft and is due to appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 5 August.
On Tuesday 23 June, reports came in that a shoplifter had been detained by an off-duty officer. As a result, the suspect started struggling with the off-duty officer in an attempt to get away. Uniformed officers attended and the suspect was arrested. As a result of this, the suspect has now had to complete a community resolution for the theft.
A woman was arrested and charged following a report of a shoplifting on Thursday 25 June at Savers, Queensway, Stevenage.
Reports were made of items being taken from Savers and also from Boots.
Abby Robinson, aged 35, of Upper Tollington Park, London was charged with two counts of theft and is due to appear at court.
On Thursday 25 June, reports were received of a man seen breaching an existing Court Bail Conditions. Upon attendance, officers were guided to the person via CCTV and they were found to be breaching their conditions. The offender was arrested for two counts of Breach of Court Bail and was taken to Stevenage Police Station, whereby they were remanded to the next available court.
A man who was arrested on Friday 8 May and charged for drink driving on an E-scooter on Ditchmore Lane, Stevenage has been sentenced.
Alan Marlow, aged 46, of Archer Way, Stevenage appeared at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 24 June where he was found guilty of driving a motor vehicle when above the legal limit of alcohol, driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a driver’s licence.
He was disqualified from driving for 36 months and ordered to pay £362 in fines.
On Friday 26 June, Police attended a report of a man shouting at passers-by, causing issues in Stevenage Town Centre. After learning that the suspect was threatening members of the public, officers arrested him on suspicion of S4A Public Order (Causing
intentional harassment, alarm or distress to members of the public) and was taken to Stevenage Police Station for questioning.
Operation Scootherts continues to see positive results from our officers conducting both high visibility and plain clothed patrols. Advanced tactics are being used in order to prevent offenders evading arrests/summons for these motoring offences. As a result of this, the following has been seized;
X2 E-bikes.
All E-scooters and E-bikes seized have been taken to our recovery company where they are swiftly crushed.
